It is with deep sadness that the Oceania Football Confederation (OFC) has learned of the passing of Mr. Éric Michalak.

A key figure in New Caledonian sports, Éric Michalak dedicated much of his life to the development of football in all its forms.

He played a major role in the growth of futsal, beach soccer, and teqball in New Caledonia, including as first-ever head coach of the nation’s futsal team – leading the side at their OFC Futsal Championship debut in 2008 and registering a maiden win over Tuvalu. His commitment also contributed to the structuring and development of New Caledonian football.

As Director of the University Department of Physical and Sports Activities at the University of New Caledonia, he was deeply committed to passing on sporting values, supporting younger generations, and raising the profile of New Caledonian sports.

OFC extends its sincerest condolences to his family, loved ones, and colleagues at the Fédération Calédonienne de Football, University of New Caledonia, as well as to the entire New Caledonian sports community.

Thank you for everything, Éric.

Rest in Peace.
