New futsal season launches in Tahiti

The fifth edition of Tahiti’s futsal league got underway at the weekend to great excitement with four clubs entering both men’s and women’s teams.

Three further clubs entered men’s teams while the Aito Arii, the national futsal team, will also compete in the competition as part of their preparation for the OFC Futsal Nations Cup next year taking the competition to eight teams.

The opening round of matches saw wins for the Aito Arii, Papeete 1 and Punaauia in the men’s competition.

In the women’s Pirae scored the biggest victory with an 11-0 win over Papeete 2 before then beating Venus. Faaa also opened with a win.
