The Oceania Football Confederation (OFC) is deeply saddened at the passing of Papua New Guinea national team coach Bob Morris.

Bob – affectionately nicknamed Kosa BM – was an experienced coach, who held several positions at both international and domestic level, most recently with the men’s Papua New Guinea national side, during last month’s MSG Prime Minister’s Cup in Fiji.

He enjoyed two stints with the national team, helping to develop a rich crop of local talent that would go on to become established national team players, including Ati Kepo and Tommy Semmy.

Morris’ extensive resume also included managing a number of Papua New Guinea club sides, including Besta PNG United, Madang FC, Laiwaden FC, Morobe Wawens, and Lae City FC, the latter of which he guided to the league title in 2020.

Away from the pitch, Bob was a high influential figure in the develop of football across Papua New Guinea, helping not just to develop young playing talent, but also encouraging the next generation of local coaches, working to establish pathways and creating opportunities for those that followed.

Bob Morris’ presence will be sadly missed but his legacy will continue to be felt throughout Papua New Guinea football and across the Pacific for years to come.
