The 2023 OFC Women’s Champions League was the first women’s club competition to be established by OFC and was hosted in Port Moresby, Papua New Guinea, with all matches played at the Sir Hubert Murray Stadium.

Five teams competed for the right to become Oceania’s first female club champions, including Hekari United FC, Labasa Women FC, Koloale FC, AS Academy Feminine, and Kiwi FC. Originally New Zealand champions Eastern Suburbs were also due to participate, but they withdrew citing timing, security, and cost concerns.

All five clubs met in a round-robin format, with the highest-ranked side winning the title. Labasa Women FC beat Kiwi FC 6-0 in the inaugural OFC Women’s Champions League fixture, whilst the decisive match of the competition also took place on the opening matchday. A dramatic late goal from Ashley Xadrudrue Gowet in the tenth minute of injury-time secured a 2-1 victory for AS Academy Feminine over hosts Hekari United FC, giving the New Caledonian club the early edge in the race for the title.

Hekari United FC remained in the hunt with victories over the remaining three sides, including a 9-0 win over Kiwi FC inspired by four goals from Marie Kaipu. However, two goals from Alice Wenessia in a 4-1 success over Koloale FC on the final matchday ensured AS Academy Feminine made history by claiming the inaugural OFC Women’s Champions League title. Hekari United finished in second, whilst Kolale FC were third with two wins from four. Hekari United also snapped up the fair play award whilst Marie Kaipu finished as the tournament’s top goal-scorer with nine goals.
