The Junior Starlets made a fast start, immediately putting Samoa under pressure as they looked to take control of proceedings.

Just four minutes into the match, Mwanakombo Bakari opened the scoring for Kenya, giving her side an early advantage and setting the tone for the contest.

Kenya continued to dominate possession, utilising their attacking threat to keep Samoa on the back foot. The Samoan defence worked hard to limit their opponents’ opportunities, but the pressure eventually told again just before the break, when Brenda Awuor found the net in the 44th minute to double Kenya’s lead.

Samoa headed into the second half needing a response, but Kenya showed little sign of slowing down, continuing to press high and create chances in the attacking third.

Bakari struck again in the 64th minute to complete her brace, before Gaudencia Maloba added a fourth just two minutes earlier, in the 62nd minute, as Kenya put the result beyond doubt.

Despite their best efforts, Samoa struggled to find a way through a disciplined Kenyan defence, managing just three shots compared to Kenya’s 17. Breanna Kitiona and Taimane Devoux both attempted to find a breakthrough in the 60th minute, but Samoa were unable to convert their opportunities.

The result confirmed Samoa’s exit from the group stages, having lost all four of their matches at the tournament, while Kenya celebrated a convincing victory built on clinical finishing and sustained attacking pressure.
