Solomon Islands interim head coach Moses Toata has named a 25-man training squad for the friendly series against New Caledonia in Honiara next month.

The selection of players is largely based on the current Telekom S-League and features players from recent matches including Richard Fono from Malaita Kingz and Marist’s Matthias Iani, getting his first call up for the senior team.

Also returning to the squad is Phillip Mango who recently participated in the 2016 FIFA Futsal World Cup with the Solomon Islands Kurukuru. He joins James Do’oro and Izomo Bird, both of whom are looking to play their first international match against New Caledonia.

The series of matches will be challenging, with New Caledonia having an impressive record against Solomon Islands.

Les Cagous will fly next Monday for two matches scheduled on 5 October and 8 October. FCF will travel with only 16 players for the matches, however the 16 playing in the small squad have not yet been confirmed.

The Solomon Islands squad was selected by the Solomon Islands national team selection panel consisting of three independent members. Current panel members are Jacob Moli, Batram Suri and Rex Masuaku.
