Suva and Ba last week finished the year on a winning note by claiming the Digicel National Futsal League Southern and Western Zone competitions respectively.

Ba maintained their impressive 2021 record, which has seen them lose just once in 15 games, and powered to a 16-4 victory in their final match against Nadroga in Nadi.

Nadi finished second in the competition with 35 points, five back from Ba.

It was a closer affair for Suva in the Southern Zone, who needed an Akhitesh Kumar double to edge past Rewa 3-2.

That was enough to see Suva claim the title with a round to spare with 37 points, four ahead of Rewa in second.

Fiji Football Association Competitions Manager Amitesh Pal said after all competitions felt the impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic, he was happy the futsal leagues were able to be completed.

“I would like to thank all the participating teams in their respective zones for a well organised and quality futsal product,” Pal said.

“With support of the districts we are moving forward in futsal and all credit goes to the districts and players.”
