Being unbeaten in 12 matches has allowed Toti City FC to secure their third National Soccer League minor premiership and with it a place in the 2019 OFC Champions League.

The team set the benchmark for football in Papua New Guinea with their domination of the 2018 competition, and coach Peter Gunemba said the final objective is to win the premiership title.

“We have achieved our first goal, to win the minor premiership, but we have one goal left in the NSL and that is to retain our title,” Gunemba said.

“I’m so proud of the players. We’ve achieved what we set out to do, topping the competition ladder this year. To secure another premiership title is something we are pleased with and can hold our heads up at achieving.”

Gunemba dedicated the minor premiership to major sponsor, Lae Biscuit Company.

“We dedicate the minor premiership to them,” he said.

“We also want to thank God for his guidance and protection all through our games.”

Gunemba’s Lae City Dwellers (Toti City FC) will make their fourth appearance in the region’s premier international club competition in 2019.
