The Vodafone Fiji national women’s team is ready to take on Vanuatu and Singapore at the upcoming FIFA Tri-Nations International Friendly series hosted by Vanuatu.
Coach Marika Rodu said they were using the tour as a build up for the South Pacific Games next month.
“We have prepared well for this tour because we will be taking this as our build-up for the South Pacific Games in Samoa, “said Rodu.
Rodu said his team is looking forward to the two matches.
“We have prepared well and the girls have done their hard work and I am sure they will do their best against both teams in Vanuatu.
“It is not going to be easy because both teams have equally prepared to face us,” said the coach.
Rodu believes his team has what it takes to get the results against their opponent.
“The onus is on the team now to perform after three weeks of hard training and I am happy that the girls have gelled well before the tour.
“The team is really bonded and I have seen the changes in their fitness level and can say they are all mentally fit to face Singapore and Vanuatu,” expained Rodu.
Despite missing some senior players Rodu said he had faith in his young players.
“There are few U-19 girls who have replaced some of the senior players and I am very confident the new players will do the same work,” the Fiji coach added.
Fiji will face Singapore on (Friday) 7 June before their meeting with Vanuatu on (Monday) 10 June.
