“We are doing this as part of our efforts to promote good governance and accountability; and I reckon it will be first in any sporting code in the country,” Lupari says.
“National Soccer League is funded largely by sponsorships from the private sector as well as the franchises, and therefore it is imperative that financial reports are provided to them on a monthly basis.”
Lupari says he is grateful to the NSL Board of Directors for their support and recognition of the importance of good governance.
“We owe our sponsors, clubs and our supporters, and they must know every month where the monies are coming from and where they are being spent.
“Many sport organisations in the country talk about accountability and good governance, but they do not practice it. National Soccer League is paving the way and I hope other sport administrators will follow us by doing the same.”
Lupari also said the NSL is planning to develop its own website, and through it intends to provide all the information from schedules to training programmes and including financial performance.
“This is important for NSL if we are to attract sponsorship and support for the growth of the league in the country. We must conduct ourselves in a transparent way and ensure that we share all our information with our sponsors, clubs and our supporters,” Lupari concludes.
