The match, a vital fixture in deciding who will finish top of Group A and thus qualify for the final, was originally set to be held on Saturday 31 March at Govind Park in Ba but a severe storm caused massive disruption across Fiji and the region of Ba was badly affected, leaving Govind Park in a unsuitable state to host the fixture.
The game was therefore rescheduled to take place the next day at Churchill Park in Lautoka but the effects of the adverse weather did not abate and, after much consultation between representatives from OFC, Fiji Football Association, Lautoka City Council, the match officials and both teams, it was decided the game would be postponed once more.
OFC then put forward two alternative dates – Saturday 14 April and Sunday 15 April – for the match to be played and, as Fiji is still recovering from the devastating flooding, it was proposed that the match would now take place in Auckland. The artificial turf at Bill McKinley Park in Mt Wellington and the natural turf at Centre Park in Mangere were the two options presented.
Representatives from both Ba and Tefana were invited to provide their input and have agreed upon the new date and venue.
The squad lists and match officials for the game will be announced in due course.
