Young Besta PNG United striker Papalau Awele is the saviour of the day to pull through his second of the double to give his team a chance to fight for the top four.
The young side scored the first goal in the 34th minute when Nigel Malagian chipped the ball over to find Papalau Awele who runs past the Stars defenders for a 1-0 lead.
The home side were stirred into action by that defensive gaff and answered with a sustained period of attack for the rest of the half led by their strikers but could not produce the equalizer and had to be content to trail 1-0 at half time.
Easter Stars started the second stanza in the best possible manner, came out firing with a 75th minute goal by Gerard Makein to keep their hopes alive.
With the young side determination and courage without giving up, keep fighting when their prayers were answered when Papalau Awele run past the Stars defenders to grab his second of the afternoon in the injury time from a through ball from Maskulan Pulung.
Coach Bob Morris was excited and thank his boys for the team effort which made them a winner. “We were looking forward for this game to get three points which during our training we were working on our weakness and it paid off,” said Morris.
The team is now looking forward to win their last two remaining matches to be in the top four for the play-off.
This weekend they will be hosting Lae FC at the Sir Ignatius Kilage Stadium over in Lae.
