The 2009 New World National League begins in Fiji this weekend with a total of six matches to be played.

Five matches will be played in the southern division while a lone match will be played in the west. The first match is expected to kick off on Friday with Suva hosting Labasa at Telecom National Stadium at 7:30pm (local time).

Other matches see, Nadi travelling to Rewa, Power Electric Suva meeting Lautoka, Labasa making their second appearance against Nasinu and Navua facing Nadroga at Thompson Park.

Defending champions Ba and Tavua clash at Govind Park in the official opening match. Last year the ‘Men in Black’ finished top, followed by Labasa (2), Lautoka (3), Nadi (4), Rewa (5), Suva (6) in the Super Six. The Bottom Four series had Navua, Nasinu, Tavua and Nadroga respectively.

The League this year has returned to the old format of home and away matches. The winner of the first round will represent Fiji in the Oceania Champions League while the overall league winner will be decided after the proper completion of the League approximately two weeks before the staging of the Homecentres IDC in Nadi.
