TAHITI – Defending champions AS Manu Ura continued its fine form in Tahiti’s Division Federale with a
comfortable 3-0 win over Central Sports that guaranteed French Polynesia’s club champions retained top spot in Division Federale over the festive period.

AS Manu Ura’s dogged defence of the title they won last season meant Central Sport suffered its third consecutive defeat after earlier losses to AS Dragon (4-2) and JT (2-1) in
rounds seven and eight.

The champions enjoy a narrow two point lead over hard-chasing AS Tefana whose championship hopes were reaffirmed after a convincing 4-2 victory over ninth placed TAC. The
‘Yellow and Greens’ of AS Tefana have suffered only one defeat in Division Federale this season at the hands of AS Manu Ura but continue to serve the ‘Mauves’ of Paea enough warning that they could
yet provide a stern challenge to their rivals OFC O-League aspirations.

JT heaped further misery on AS Pirae with a 4-2 thumping of ‘les oranges’ which keeps JT’s Division Federale Playoff hopes alive. AS Pirae’s chances of sneaking into the
playoffs seem remote after their fifth loss of the season keeps them three points adrift of fourth placed Tamarii Faaa with Faaa boasting the luxury of a game in hand.

AS Dragon had to survive a spirited performance from AS Aorai after achieving a last minute 3-2 victory that keeps Dragon hot on the heels of AS Manu Ura and AS Tefana. A late
goal from Tevaihau Tehuritau was enough to deny AS Aorai a much needed two points with the ‘Blues’ stuck at the bottom of the Division Federale by virtue of goal difference from fellow strugglers
TAC.

Tamarii Faaa continued its winning ways with a fifth consecutive match without defeat after a 2-1 win over AS Temanava. Tamarii Faaa’s invincibility in their home fortress of
Puurai is giving the ‘Greens’ a massive confidence boost as the gap between themselves and the chasing pack increases.

The top four teams in Division Federale will qualify for the Division Federale Play offs on April 3rd, 2008, with the Division Federale champions 2007/08 determined
over the course of the Play offs competition which will be a home and away league format.

The bottom six clubs will compete in the Division Federale Play down with all clubs retaining their points from the classification stage. The six clubs will play each other
once. The bottom two clubs in the Division Federale Play down will be relegated to Division 1 for the 2008/09 season.

Coupe de Polynesie semi-final 1st and 2nd leg matches have been scheduled for Thursday January 17th and Sunday January 20th. Central
Sports face AS Temanava in the first semi-final with AS Tefana matched against shock troops AS Hinano Tiara.

JT and Tamarii Faaa play their Division Federale catch-up match on Friday January 18th, 2008.
