Tonga Football Association can now confirm its National Women’s U-20 Football team to compete at the OFC U-20 Women’s Championship New Zealand 2009 to be held at Auckland’s North Harbour Stadium from 5-9 October.

 This follows Tonga Football Association (TFA) selection panel’s final deliberations on Saturday 29 August.

The selection was made from a squad of 25 young and talented women who were handpicked during the Major League Competition earlier this year and the current Secondary Schools competition.

The team who is currently in training will regroup in camp at ‘Atele Soccer Academy over the weekend for the final leg of preparations. 

Head Coach, Kilifi Uele is satisfied with the selection and is confident of an impressive Tongan performance in the tournament.

 “This is one of the best football teams TFA has to date, and our final preparation will be focused on intensifying mental toughness and confidence as a team” Uele said.

The team is due to arrive in Auckland on 3 October where they will play a friendly match with a top Auckland club as a warm up before the tournament.
