OFC President David Chung paid tribute to Malere for his contribution to the development of football in Vanuatu.
“Herve Malere has been a long-time servant of football and his involvement in the game will long be remembered” Chung says.
“His experience had seen him successfully step up to the role of acting CEO in the past, and he was an integral member of the Local Organising Committee for the OFC U-17 Championship, held in Santo, Vanuatu, in 2013.
“Herve’s absence from the office will be keenly felt by his colleagues, the VFF executive committee, MA presidents, club presidents, players and faithful football fans in Vanuatu.”
It is the second significant loss suffered by the Vanuatu football community in the past week, following the passing of former Vanuatu futsal national team manager Glen Dossonville.
Dossonville, who passed away on Sunday, 15 June, played a significant role in the development of futsal in Vanuatu and can be credited with helping lay the groundwork for the current success of futsal in Vanuatu.
“On behalf of the Oceania football community, we offer our deepest condolences to both Herve and Glen’s families during this extremely sad time.”
