VFF Futsal and Beach Soccer Development Officer Louis Dominique has taken the national team over to Australia to take part in an annual international tournament featuring the hosts and fellow guests Thailand.
Dominique is certain the experience of stalwarts like captain Chickau Mansalse will help break in some of the national team’s more recent recruits.
“I think Chickau has a lot of experience as one of the only players who plays football with the Vanuatu national team, Amicale FC, the Vanuatu futsal team and now the national beach soccer team,” Dominique says.
“It is proper to give you the armband because I trust you and I know you will lead the players in the right way during our matches against Thailand and Australia,” he told Mansale.
While it may jus be friendlies, Mansale is keen for his side to show they can compete with their Asian counterparts.
“Thailand, as we know, have very good beach soccer facilities and they’ll be tough. But I trust that if we work as a team we can get a good result.”
Erakor Golden Star defender Brian Kaltack has shown a lot of progress since joining in with the team and is excited about the move to a new style of football.
“I’m happy to be selected and to play beach soccer for the first time with the national team, I love it,” he says.
“I am looking forward to stepping on the sand and playing against Australia and Thailand. I believe in myself that I will do well with my friends.”
