Waitakere United may have gone eleven games without a win over Auckland City on the field, but their coach Steve Cain is confident his side is getting closer to making the breakthrough.

This Wednesday afternoon’s crucial final O-League group game between the sides at Kiwitea Street would be the perfect time for the West Auckland club to end their winless streak (kickoff 4pm).

Waitakere’s 3-0 win over New Caledonian champions AS Mont Dore last Saturday, moved them ahead of Auckland in Group A of the O-League.

The result means that a draw against Auckland on Wednesday would be enough to earn Waitakere a place in the first ever O-League final against Fijian champions Ba, which will be held over two legs on April 21 and 28.
