An onslaught of six goals in the third period has seen Tahiti pull away from a tough Fijian challenge in the second match of day one at the Tahiti Nui Beach Soccer Championship.

Fiji took a first period advantage after captain Kamal Hassan led from the front with the opening goal and Taniela Evo Waqa added their second.

Eizo Arai got the home team on the scoresheet during the same period.

The second period saw the score see-saw with Teva Zaveroni, Raimana Li Fung Kuee and Angelo Tchen hitting the net for Tahiti while Waqa notched his second for Fiji, Alvin Avinesh notched their fourth and Shonal Joel Sharma kept his team infront with Fiji’s fifth.

But Fiji’s fitness appeared to fail them in the third period while Tahiti maintained their intensity and dominated the posession stakes.

The score began to look lopsided as Teva Zaveroni added a brace to his earlier goal to complete his hat-trick and a further four goals flowed as the margin blew-out.
