The Jale Dreloa captained side was down 1-0 in the first half before two late second half goals sealed the win for Mexico.
Assistant coach Shalen Lal said his side played well and gave their best during the game.
“Our boys were playing a champion team and this is their first time experience but they did really good.
“Coach Frank Farina has seen the weakness and strength in our team after playing Mexico,” Lal said.
“We missed few opportunities against them but we were unfortunate not to score any goals.
“This was a good experience for the team as they played in the cold weather condition.”
The team plays Columbia U-20 in its next friendly match at 5pm on Monday and team officials are trying to arrange another friendly match before they leave for New Zealand later in the week.
Fiji is grouped with Germany, Uzbekistan and Honduras and open their FIFA U-20 World Cup campaign against Germany in Christchurch on 1 June.
