The Solomon Islands star picked up the injury while training with the national futsal team and had been left out of the Amicale squad to face his countrymen from Koloale.
But he has made a quick recovery and is expected to be drafted back into the squad today.
“Jack is now okay to play against Koloale this weekend,” physio George Reganvanu said on Thursday.
“He has improved a lot. Today he made some sprints and was able to play with this rest of the team.”
Wetney is delighted to have recovered in time to line up against his fellow Solomon Islanders.
“I am very happy,” he says. “It is now nearly a week after the injury and my foot is okay. I haven’t noticed any problems.
“The minutes I trained today were useful to gain rhythm and to confirm that my foot is good. To get a goal as well this Saturday will be fantastic.”
The availability of Wetney is a big boost to coach William Malas as he is already without the services of Alick Maemae, another key Solomon Islands import. Maemae picked up his second booking of the competition during the last round against Lautoka and is therefore suspended for this weekend’s match.
The Amicale defence will also not be at full strength due to the suspension of Young Paul, who was sent off in that 5-1 win over Lautoka.
