Led by OFC President David Chung, executive committee members were given a tour of the work site where the two artificial football pitches that form the centre piece of the Home of Football have now been laid.
Each of the two pitches features a state of the art turf with space for moveable grandstand seating and includes a 10 metre space to accommodate television.
The visitation also included a look at an adjacent site where the OFC hopes to construct an extensive accommodation block that can house multiple teams during tournaments.
Currently the OFC secretariat is based at the Academy building in Mount Smart, a facility opened at the turn of the century under the presidency of the late Charles J Dempsey, CBE, and the FIFA President Joseph S Blatter.
The OFC Executive Committee is scheduled to meet at the Novotel in Greenlane, New Zealand, on Saturday 18 October, with a packed agenda.
All Member Associations, with the exception of American Samoa’s Alex Godinet, are represented at today’s meeting.
The outcomes of today’s OFC Executive Committee meeting will be published at www.oceaniafootball.com.
Work on Ngahue is expected to be completed by June 2015. The FIFA U-20 World Cup in New Zealand kicks off on 30 May of the same year.
