Honiara representatives are in command of the 2009 Our Telekom National Club Championship after huge scorelines in their respective matches at Lawson Tama Stadium yesterday.

The wealth of experience in the Honiara clubs proved too much for the provincial minnots who could not keep up the pace.

Honiara’s Marist FC remain a strong contender for the title after recording a 4-0 victory over Malaita Club Champions Fasi Roos. The victory takes Marist to six points from two matches and gives them a share of top place in Group A alongside defending champions Koloale – also from Honiara.

In a fitting end to Match Day 3, Koloale continued the goal-flow by beating Sunbeam FC 6-0.

Koloale’s danger man Henry Faárodo Junior was awarded ‘the man of the match award’ for his outstanding performance.

Both Marist and Koloale have given a clear indication they are favorites to progress to the next stage of competition.

Fasi Roos meanwhile have yet to pick up a point after going down 1-2 to Soloso of Western Province in their first match.

In Group B, another Honiara club – Kossa – showed their class by thrashing Gossa of the Western Province 4-0.

The win gives the newly crowned ‘Top 8’ Champions yet another confidence boost and proves they are on a roll.

As predicted by many pundits, Group B is a difficult pool with Honiara-based clubs Kossa, Uncles and Makuru all now sharing the lead with three points each.
