Uncertainty around the confirmation of participating teams and entry of new teams has meant that the OFC Executive Committee had no other option but to reschedule the tournament, which acts as Oceania’s qualifying event for the FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup.

OFC can confirm that late entries have been received from Samoa and Papua New Guinea who will join the already confirmed teams of New Caledonia and New Zealand.

The tournament will be delayed to allow the Member Associations more time to prepare following the late confirmation.

According to FIFA regulations, the tournament will need to take place at least three months prior to the FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup scheduled for 18 August – 8 September in Japan.

The OFC General Secretariat will now investigate alternative dates and, if necessary, an alternative host association.

A new proposal is expected to be communicated to the OFC Executive Committee by mid-January with a decision likely to be taken soon after.

OFC will announce any decisions or further developments as they arise.
