Nicholas Muri scored twice for the defending champions while McPhillip Aisa and Robert Laua got one each. Tahiti had plenty of chances but Solomon Islands goalkeeper Fred Hale was outstanding between the sticks, letting in only Patrick Tepa who scored a consolation penalty in the final stages.
