The Oceania All Stars will today (Tuesday 2 December) train at North Harbour Stadium ahead of their “Beautiful Game” clash against the Los Angeles Galaxy at Mt. Smart Stadium this Saturday.
Oceania All Stars will play FIFA Club World Cup-bound Waitakere United in a friendly match at North Harbour Stadium with coach Jim Selby keen to build on last night’s 2-1 win over Auckland City FC.
Included in the All Stars squad is Major League Soccer (MLS) star and New Zealand All White international Jarrod Smith. Smith scored the winner for Toronto FC on his MLS debut against Los Angeles Galaxy.
The bulk of the Oceania All Star squad has arrived in New Zealand and coaches Jim Selby and Colin Tuaa will oversee the team in what represents another chance to build combinations for the weekend.
“This match is about determining what the players are capable of and what they are not. We’re not reading too much into results but it is a good opportunity for the team to get a run together,” Selby said.
Oceania All Stars Mark Bosnich and Christian Karembeu will be in attendance but unavailable for selection. Both players arrive in the country tomorrow afternoon.
“Mark and Christian will give everybody in the squad a big lift and we’re looking forward excitedly to their contribution this week,” Tuaa said.
