The match kicks off

2′ New Caledonia have the first chance when Georges Gope-Fenepej latches onto a Bertrand Kai header in the box but is under pressue when he shoots and can’t get enough power to beat goalkeeper Jake Gleeson
4′ Wood strikes a free kick towards goal from a long way out but it deflects off the wall and goes out
6′ Marius Bako hits a free kick into the New Zealand box but puts too much weight on it
7′ Leo Bertos whips in a free kick from the right for New Zealand but can’t pick out a team mate
9′ Gope-Fenepej backheels the ball to Jacques Haeko on the edge of the box and the big striker unleashes a powerful shot which smacks off the post
13′ New Caledonia goalkeeper Rocky Nyikeine gathers a Bertos cross
18′ Shane Smeltz volleys a Bertos free kick wide but the offside flag is raised anyway
22′ Kosta Barbarouses heads a Michael McGlinchey cross on target but Nyikeine makes a straightforward save
25′ Kai puts a volley just wide for New Caledonia from the edge of the area
26′ Gleeson gives possession away cheaply to Bako but his shots rolls straight to the goalkeeper

34′ New Caledonia survive a goalmouth scramble from a McGlinchey corner before Chris Killen shoots wide from the corner of the area

40′ Gope-Fenepej sets off down the left and tries to play a one-two with Haeko but the move breaks down
45′ Gleeson fumbles a Judikael Ixoee long through under pressure from Haeko but Killen clears off the line

45′ + 1′ Gope-Fenepej pulls the ball back for Bako on the edge of the area but his shot fizzes wide

59′ Wood gets his head to a Bertos free kick but Nyikeine dives to save to his right
