Vanuatu has confirmed its participation for the OFC U-20 World Cup qualification tournament in Auckland, New Zealand, despite the current financial situation of the Vanuatu Football Federation.
After three months of intensive training in Port Vila, the Vanuatu U20 Squad will leave the country on Saturday January 13th for New Zealand.
The participation of Vanuatu was made possible through a fundraising within various local companies, particularly Wilco Hardware, the agent of the Cruising Company of P&O, Intraco, Air Vanuatu, Tropical Rainforest Aromatic, ANZ, ITW Proline, Ridgeway Blake, Jonathan Law, Geoff Gee and Partners, Drug Store, Pacific Suppliers, Tusker, Au Bon Marché, Marco Traverso, Origin Energy, Nautilus Watersports and Gary Cole.
The new coach of the Vanuatu under 20 Squad, Andrew Hobbs confirms that his squad is ready for these qualification tournaments by adding that he and his assistant coach Graham Wick will put a last hand on the preparative of the selection this week before their departure on Saturday early morning.
Andrews Hobbs team played a friendly match last Saturday in Port Vila with the Vanuatu Senior Squad. The match was an outstanding encounter and gave Hobbs plenty to think about ahead of the serious business in Auckland.
In the end, Vanuatu U20 secured a respectable 1-1 draw with the Vanuatu senior international team during a close game and sent a clear message that they will pose a serious challenge at Trusts Stadium.
Andrew Hobbs’ team play their first match on Sunday 21st January at Trusts Stadium.

Vanuatu prêt pour le tournoi de qualification de la Coupe du Monde Junior
La sélection Nationale Junior du Vanuatu a confirmé son billet pour le tournoi qualification de la Coupe du Monde de football Junior de la région Océanie, en dépit des préoccupations suscitées par la situation financière de la Fédération de Football du Vanuatu. Après trois mois d’entraînement intensif à Port Vila, les jeunes espoirs vont finallement prendre l’avion Samedi 13 Janvier à destination de la Nouvelle Zélande, pays hôte de ce tournoi, dont le coup d’envoi sera donné le Vendredi 19 Janvier à Auckland.
La participation du Vanuatu a été rendue possible gr-ce a une collecte de fonds entreprise auprès des différentes entreprises locales, notamment la Quincaillerie Wilco, l’agence de la Compagnie de Croisière P&O, Intro, Air Vanuatu, Tropical Rainforest Aromatic, ANZ, ITW Proline, Ridgeway Blake, Jonathan Law, Geoff Gee and Partners, Drug Store, Pacific Suppliers, Tusker, Au Bon Marche, Marco Traverso, Origine Energy, Nautilus Watersports et Gary Cole.
Le nouvel entraîneur des jeunes espoirs du Vanuatu, M. Andrew Hobbs a confirmé que la sélection du Vanuatu est pratiquement prête pour ces éliminatoires en ajoutant que lui et son assistant Graham Wick vont mettre, cette semaine une dernière main sur les préparatifs de la sélection avant de prendre l’avion.
Il est à rappeler que les jeunes espoirs vanuatais avaient sorti ses griffes lors d’un match amical samedi dernier à Port-Vila avec la sélection Nationale du Vanuatu dont le résultat est à égalité soit un but partout. Un match de très haut niveau aussi bien qu’en défensive qu’offensive qui a permis aux jeunes espoirs de faire preuve de leur endurance et de leur expériences acquises durant la période d’entraînement. Au cours ce match amical, la sélection junior a prouvé qu’il resterait une menace pour les autres pays de la région dans ces éliminatoires. Les joueurs de Andrew Hobbs effecturont leur premier match le dimanche 21 Janvier face à la sélection fidjienne au Stade « North Harbour Stadium ».
