HONIARA – As the hype surrounding the O-League First-leg Final reaches fever pitch, the Hon. Prime Minister of the Solomon Islands Dr Derek Sikua has joined the party by confirming his attendance at today’s match between Koloale FC and Auckland City FC.

The first-leg final kicks off at 3:00pm (local time) at Honiara’s Lawson Tama Stadium where fans are already gathering outside.

Speaking with Solomon Star Newspaper, Dr Sikua clearly stated his loyalty:

“I will go behind Koloale.”

Director of Sports in the Ministry of Home Affairs John Bakeua told The Star that government representatives will be “out in green today” to support the home team.

“This will be an opportunity for our boys to write a new chapter in the history of Solomon Islands soccer and break through to a higher level apart from our local league,” said Bakeua.

Other notable dignitaries in attendance will be the New Zealand High Commissioner, Australian High Commissioner and British High Commissioner plus Ministers of the Crown and Permanent Secretaries.

Over 10,000 tickets have already been sold for today’s match and the stadium is expected to be close to a sell out.

After early showers in Honiara, the weather has cleared to leave light cloud cover and humid conditions.
