FFS CEO Sarai Bareman says 160 young girls took part in the event, held at the FFS Complex in Tuanaimato, which acts as a relaxed and fun introduction to football for young females.
“We split the festival into five different age groups and had some great prizes including football boots and jerseys that anyone who registered had a chance of winning,” Bareman says.
“It was a fantastic day and I think it will go a long way towards supporting the kick-off of our girl’s league in a few weeks.”
With a firm focus on developing women’s football in the country, the FFS has begun preparing for the launch of two new female leagues.
Bareman says March 9 has been proposed as the start date for the U-12 and U-15 leagues.
