PAPUA NEW GUINEA – UNIVERSITY DEFEAT PRK SOUTHS

University Football Club of Port Moresby will represent Papua New Guinea in the 2008 OFC Champions League.

University defeated PRK Souths in a two series match following the implementation of a new format set by the Papua New Guinea Football Association to get the champion and the best team to represent PNG in the OFC Champions League.

The amateur Club champion University FC defeated professional club champion PRK Souths in both matches played in Port Moresby.

University FC coach John Davani was delighted by the result and said it was testimony to the hard work and perseverence of his squad during their amateur season.

The defeat was a blow to both PNG’s semi-professional league and a hefty knock for PRK Souths who won the inaugural semi-professional title late last year.
