The course was officially opened by Vanuatu Football Federation President Lambet Maltock yesterday at Teouma football academy with over 30 participants.
“I welcome you all today to Teouma and thank you for your dedication to one of the most important job in football, refereeing.”
“I urged you FIFA and amateur referees to wake up and move forward with the development of football.” You can see that football in Port Vila is moving forward but we referees are still behind.” Said Lambert Maltock, Chairman of VFF refereeing standing committee.
“If we can have foreign players coming to play in our country thats mean football level or standard is coming up but we need to improve our performance and to be in the same level.”
“In life there is no smooth water for referee but FIFA has provided each year for a referee course for you all.” Please don’t wait for the course; you need to run your own weekly training and course to help you all improve.”
Finally, I would like to thank OFC and FIFA for approving and for funding the referee course to be in Vanuatu this week.” Said Lambert Maltock.
Mark Hester, FIFA Referee Technical and Fitness Instructor Mark Hester encourage all referees to be ready for this week course.

“The main objective of this course is to assist the local FIFA and amateur referee’s education and to improve the quality of the referees,” explained FIFA Referee Technical & Fitness Instructor Mark Hester.

“Another is to get uniformity in the interpretation of the application of the Laws of the Game.” Said Mr. Hester.

The course runs from 24-27 September 2013.
