World football’s greatest prize will visit New Zealand as part of a global tour that has already visited 50 African nations and is now continuing its five-continent journey to another 33 countries around the world.
“Coca-Cola is proud to be bringing the FIFA World Cup Trophy Tour to New Zealand.In recognition of New Zealand qualifying for the FIFA World Cup Coca-Cola is giving people the opportunity to celebrate in the lead up to the FIFA World Cup by seeing the trophy,” says Gareth Edgecombe, President, Coca-Cola South Pacific.
The tour, which began its journey from the FIFA headquarters in Zurich, Switzerland on September 21, 2009 will visit 84 countries and travel more than 138,902 kilometres or more than three times the circumference of the earth.
The Trophy Tour was developed through an exclusive partnership between FIFA and Coca-Cola, a FIFA Partner and one of the organisation’s longest standing corporate partners.
Plans for the visit are still being finalised and more details will be issued as the plans are completed.
