Rivals vie for third playoff berth

NOUMEA: AS Poum and JS Baco are neck and neck heading into New Caledonia’s division d’honneur playoffs battling for the third and final berth. Reigning champ AS Magenta leads with 52 points but AS Mont Dore is right behind in second on 50 points and assured of the second playoff berth.

The third spot is open with AS Poum currently occupying the spot on 43 points with JS Baco right behind them on 41 points. However, JS Baco have a game in hand and this could prove crucial on who eventually takes out the third and final berth before the playoffs commence next month.

The top three teams in the division d’honneur will playoff for the championship with the winner of the territorial league finals in a round robin series.

Meanwhile, round 25 results saw Poum demolish AS Auteuil 5-3, Gaitcha edge Olympique 1-0, while AS Magenta was tested in their 2-1 victory over ACB Poya. JS Baco kept their playoff hopes alive with a 2-1 win over USC while Mont Dore continued their good form with a 4-1 win over ASN Kouaoua
