Utulei Youth retained the men’s Division 1 Cup in a 2-0 win over Vaiala Tongan during the ongoing 2014 FFAS National League on Saturday, August 23.
In the only other match, Lion Heart dispatched PanSa 5-1 with FC SKBC having a bye weekend.
It was a tough first half after a 0-0 draw until player-coach, Penaia ‘Mau’ Kaleopa, scored on a rebound put Utulei on the board 1-0.
Ryan Samuelu scored the second on another rebound with less than 20 minutes to play to give his team a cushion to work with and that led to Utulei winning more ball possession as well as more shots on goal that could have turned the game into a rout.
LION HEART 5, PANSA 1
PanSa scored first but Lion Heart scored the most with all of their scores coming in the second half.
Five minutes into the game and PanSa was up 1-0.
But that all turned in the second half when Lion Heart scored five unanswered goals.
The win put Lion Heart in the No. 1 spot in the standings, followed by Utulei Youth, FC SKBC, Vaiala Tongan A and PanSa.
