Suva defeated Ba 5-4 on penalty kicks to win the women’s Inter District Championship at Govind Park, Ba over the weekend.
After being tied 1-all after 90 minutes the two sides went into extra-time and then the penalty shootout.
Suva caused the biggest upset of the tournament earlier in the day defeating favourites Nadi 2-1 in the semi-finals while Ba beat Tavua 1-0 to cement its place in the final.
Fiji Football Association development official Chandra Segran said a training squad will be named today to participate in the Oceania U20 Women’s Championships in Samoa next year.
Fiji is pooled with the hosts, Tahiti and Papua New Guinea in Group B. With New Zealand, Vanuatu, New Caledonia, Tonga and the Solomon Islands comprising Group A.
