Assistant Coach Sunil Kumar is confident the camp will help the team in their preparation for the international tournament by giving the players a taste of professional football.
“We will be playing Sydney FC U-20 side, Western Sydney FC and Newcastle FC U-20 side,” he said.
“Playing against the professional players in Sydney will give an added element of exposure and experience to our boys.”
The camp is the last chance for preparation before the team travels to Vanuatu on the 31 August, and Kumar says that every member of the team is focused on improvement.
“The players are working really hard during training sessions, trying to improve themselves physically, mentally and technically.
“The boys are ready to take the challenge and they know what is expected from them.”
The team has been drawn in Pool A with Vanuatu, Papua New Guinea and New Caledonia. Tahiti, New Zealand, Samoa and Solomon Islands are in Pool B.
“All the teams will be tough and we are going to take each game one at a time,” Kumar added.
Fiji plays their first match against hosts Vanuatu on 3 September at Port Villa Stadium in Vanuatu.
