Gope-Fenepej made a name for himself locally at the 2011 edition of the South Pacific Games in his native New Caledonia where he scored seven goals in five matches.
But he hit new heights on the field for Les Cagous during the 2012 OFC Nations Cup with a victory sealing goal in New Caledonia’s 2-0 victory over New Zealand.
The 25-year-old joined Troyes in 2009 when the side was newly promoted to Ligue 1. They were relegated at the end of 2013 and finished the 2013/14 season in 10th place.
During their Ligue 1 season the Caledonian struggled to assert himself in the first team, though was a strong scoring presence in the reserve side. He made his Ligue 1 debut in February 2013, coming off the bench against Lille at Grand Stade Lille Metropole.
Since relegation, Gope-Fenepej has seen a lot more action in coach Jean-Marc Furlan’s side and the new contract, keeping him at the club until 30 June 2016, shows he features in Furlan’s plans for the future.
ESTAC Troyes gets the 2014/2015 Ligue 2 season underway with an away game on Friday 1 August against Luzenac Ariege Pyrenees.
