The Oceania trio of referee Finau Vulivuli of Fiji and assistant referees Jacqueline Stephenson and Sarah Walker, both of New Zealand, will be taking charge of their first match of the tournament.
The trio have been assigned the Group C encounter between England and Mexico which gets underway at 2pm (local) in Moncton.
Vulivuli is quite an accomplished referee at international level, having appeared at the 2008, 2010 and 2012 FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cups as well as the 2011 FIFA Women’s World Cup.
Stephenson has a number of similar appearances to her name, and can also boast apearing at the Algarve Cup in Portugal and the Peace Queen Cup in Korea.
For Walker it’s not her first taste of international football after travelling to the United States of America for the Dallas Cup earlier this year, but she will be making her FIFA debut after being added to the FIFA referee list this year.
The trio are hoping a good performance tomorrow will help them earn further appointments as the tournament progresses.
