NOUMEA – The draw for the Coupe de Nouvelle Caledonie
quarter finals has been made with the favourites avoiding each other.

Last season’s beaten finalists AS Mont Dore will face bottom-placed Super Ligue Nestle club FC Gaitcha at Stade Numa Daly in what at first
glance looks a formality for ‘les rouge’.

FC Gaitcha may fancy its chances of causing a cup upset and AS Mont Dore will be well-advised to guard against complacency after Gaitcha’s
eye-catching performance in the last round.

JS Baco face fellow Super Ligue Nestle outfit AS Thio Sport..

Baco will be heavily favoured to progress to the semi-finals but Thio Sport can point to its strong end of season form in the league and won’t
be a pushover.

Cup minnows Hienghene Sport face a mission impossible in its quarter final after drawing run away Super Ligue Nestle leaders AS
Magenta.

Magenta possesses firepower, craft and creativity throughout its line-up with Pierre Wajoka, Jose Hmae and Michel Hmae likely to provide
Hienghene with its sternest test of the season.

Michel Hmae has been in impressive form since the XIII South Pacific Games and in the OFC Nations Cup/2010 FIFA World Cup Qualifiers Oceanian
Zone matches and Hienghene are unlikely to possess a defender capable of stopping him if the match goes according to form.

Hienghene do have home advantage.

Defending cup holders AS Lossi face either ACB Poya or AS Temala in the last quarter final match. AS Lossi – one of New Caledonia’s top
scoring teams this season – should be too good for either of those two potential opponents.

Lossi’s less than convincing defensive record should give hope to ACB Poya and AS Temala that a cup upset is possible.
