In the other game to complete Division 2’s Round 3 of the men’s 2013 FFAS National League, Ilaoa & To’omata won against Green Bay 3-2.
Vaiala Tongan shocked the only Division 2 cup holders of the 2013 season before this match with a 2-0 first half score 23 minutes into the game.
Latu Aakau scored in the 20th for Tongan while Sione Mau made it 2-0 three minutes later.
Atu’u started to win more possession after that, as well as the territorial battle, and with this increased attacking pressure they eventually got through with a goal from Livi Fano to halve the deficit, 2-1.
They kept up that pressure in the second half but to no avail as Vaiala held on to take the cup away for the first time this season.
One crucial absence for Atu’u was Rafael ‘Fish’ Rocha who was sitting out a two-game, red card suspension, a weapon up front they could have used but for his situation.
Challenging Vaiala Tongan for the cup on Sept. 14 is Green Bay in the second to last match of the season for the division.
PanSa (2-1) and Vaiala (2-1) are tied points-wise with 7 each but in the goals difference department PanSa has the edge, 5-2.
In third place is Atu’u (1-1-1) with 4 points, followed by Ilaoa & To’omata (1-1-1) with 4 as well while Green Bay (1-0-2) is No. 5 wih 3 and Vaitogi United (0-3) in sixth place with 0.
