SUVA: The Coca-Cola/Nokia Fiji national soccer league got underway last weekend in wet conditions which dampened the official opening in Suva.

Due to the conditions only three matches were played. Suva got off to a good start with a 3-2 victory over Nasinu. The Lautoka Blue Bulls were too good for Labasa coming out 3-1 victors, while Navua showed they will be a force after thrashing Tavua 7-2.

The Fiji Football Association also announced that due to the dates for the OFC Nations Cup/World Cup Qualifiers in May-June this year, the dates for its major tournaments have been adjusted.

The Fiji FACT tournament will now take place from 11-14 June in Nadi. The Punjas Battle of the Giants will be from 30 July – 1 August with four matches played a week earlier. The showpiece of Fijian football, the annual Homecentres IDC Inter-District Championship will be from 7-11 October.
