The former national team player has a storied career on the pitch and he’s slowly but surely adding to those accomplishments as he embarks on a new path.
“I am very happy that I could pass and get my OFC B Licence,” an elated Poida says.
“To achieve a B Licence, or any other football coaching licence, a coach must work incredibly hard.
“It’s not easy but I told myself from the very beginning of the course that I must work hard to gain this accreditation and not only that, but to show to other coaches that if I can make it, then it’s possible for them to also achieve their B Licence.”
Equally delighted is Vanuatu Football Federation President Lambert Maltock who congratulated Poida on his impressive achievement.
“On behalf of the VFF executive, staff, football players, clubs and fans, we are very proud,” Maltock says.
“When I first recruited Moise and Etienne Mermer and appointed them VFF coaches in 2008, I had a strong belief in them that they would achieve great things in the coaching arena and make VFF proud.
“Today we are witnessing the belief and faith I had. Moise is the first ever coach in Vanuatu to gain a B Licence, and I still believe the other coaches can do the same.”
Poida put his skills into practice during the 2013 OFC U-20 Championship, leading the national side to third behind New Zealand and host Fiji. In the background he has continued working with Tafea, who compete in the Port Vila league, and will next week bring them to compete in the OFC Champions League.
While he is focused on the competition, he’s always thinking about furthering his success.
“It’s not yet the end for me. I am now aiming and working harder to go for my A Licence and my Professional Licence,” he says.
“This means more work, more dedication, more commitment and I trust I can achieve my A Licence in the future.”
