The event will be live streamed on FIFA.com with coverage kicking off at 5.30pm (NZT) on Thursday, 6 June.
Hosts Tahiti, the 14 qualified teams, plus a second team from Oceania which is yet to be determined through a qualification campaign, will be split into four groups of four.
Regional broadcasters TNTV are collaborating with OFC TV for the live streaming and broadcast of the draw and OFC TV technical director Billy Kapoor says the two OFC personnel present in Tahiti, himself and head of OFC TV Olivier Huc, are providing support and technical assistance.
The feed is being produced in French with Huc the MC for the draw, while Kapoor will be working as technical supervisor during the broadcaster.
“The primary way in which OFC is helping the regional broadcasters is by aiding them in bringing it to an international audience on FIFA.com,” Kapoor says.
“We are also helping them to produce in HD for the first time. They can’t transmit locally in HD as they are still using SD, but we are providing training in HD. To assist we have brought with us HD encoders, which encode the signal for transmission, and a Tricaster that allows the entire production to be in HD and to be very sophisticated with a small staff.”
Kapoor says it is a first for the OFC TV team to be working on a live broadcast for such a prestigious website.
“We don’t know what numbers we can expect but it will probably be larger than what I can guess by a significant margin.”
