Solomon Islands Bilikiki coach Gideon Omokirio has named his 20-man provisional squad for the World Beach Games in Doha, Qatar.

The bulk of the players selected took part in the recent OFC Beach Soccer Nations Cup, with the notable exclusion of the captain, James Naka, who announced his international retirement following the final against Tahiti.

SIFF Futsal and Beach Soccer development officer, Dickson Kadau said the Bilikiki coaching team has been assigned to select a competitive team for the World Beach Games.

“I want to stress that we need to assemble a strong team for the games in Qatar for several reasons.

“First we need to compete on the world stage after a long absence since 2013 and we need to show that OFC deserves two spots in the FIFA Beach Soccer World Cup,” Kadau outlined.

The Solomon Bilikiki will represent Oceania Football Confederation (OFC) in the Association National Olympic Committee (ANOC) World Beach Games Qatar 2019 that will be held from October 11-16 in Doha.
