Day two of the FIFA World Cup 2026™ unfolded across North America, with co-hosts Canada and the United States taking centre stage as Group B and Group D action began in front of packed out home crowds.

While echoes from Estadio Azteca still carried over from yesterday’s fixtures, a sea of red packed Toronto Stadium as Canada claimed their first-ever FIFA World Cup point, while Los Angeles Stadium saw United States fans celebrate a dominant home display.

Here’s how day two of the FIFA World Cup™ unfolded:

Group B

Canada 1 – Bosnia and Herzegovina 1

Canada earned their first-ever FIFA World Cup point after fighting back to draw 1-1 with Bosnia and Herzegovina in their Group B opener at Toronto Stadium. Bosnia took the lead in the 21st minute when Jovo Lukic headed home from a corner, but Canada responded strongly, creating several chances before substitute Cyle Larin levelled the score in the 78th minute just two minutes after coming on.

Canada dominated much of the second half and nearly found a winner through Larin in stoppage time, but had to settle for a draw that ended a six-match losing streak at a World Cup and gave the co-hosts a positive start to their home tournament.

Group D

United States 4 – Paraguay 1

The United States opened their campaign in commanding fashion in Los Angeles, setting the tempo early and punishing Paraguay with a sharp attacking performance. Folarin Balogun scored twice as the USA claimed a 4-1 win at Los Angeles Stadium. An early own goal from Damián Bobadilla set the tone after Christian Pulisic and Weston McKennie combined on the left to force pressure inside the box.

Balogun struck first after finishing a Pulisic assist, then added a second before half-time after latching onto a Malik Tillman pass and firing into the top corner. Paraguay responded after the break through substitute Mauricio, who finished from Julio Enciso’s pass to cut the deficit. The USA controlled the closing stages and sealed the result late through Gio Reyna, who scored from distance to cap a strong attacking display.
