Ten-time Tahitian Ligue 1 champions A.S. Vénus will contest the seventh round of France’s premier knockout competition, the Coupe de France.

After securing their place in the seventh round by beating Pirae 2-1 in the final of the Coupe de Polynesie, Vénus will now travel to Toulouse in the south of France at the end of October to play a yet-to-be-determined opponent in November.

With Ligue 2 teams entering the Coupe de France in the seventh round, Vénus could find themselves facing a heavyweight of the French second division.

It will be the first time Vénus have played in the Coupe de France since 2019 when they lost 4-1 to Racing Besançon at home in Pirae, Tahiti in round seven.

Last year Venus qualified through to the knockout phase of the OFC Champions League prior to the competition being cancelled due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Their task this year will be made all the more difficult by a lack of on-field opportunities due to COVID-19 restrictions in Tahiti which have impacted local competitions.
