New Zealand has scored a late winner to beat Guatemala 1-0 in their opening Group A match at the FIFA U-20 World Cup in Argentina.
Norman Garbutt pounced in the 80th minute to score the goal and give Darren Bazeley’s side the best possible start to the tournament.
Garbutt who is the younger brother of New Zealand International Matt Garbutt, lobbed Guatemalan keeper after a nice ball down the left from Fin Conchie.
Both sides had several half chances in the game with the Central American side having eight shots, six on target with New Zealand managing two on target among eight shots at goal.
The Junior All Whites shaded the possession stats and completed more passes.
