None of the 11 OFC member associations have made any movement following the latest update to the FIFA World Rankings for the June international window.

Three OFC men’s national teams were in action during the window, New Zealand preparing for FIFA World Cup 2026™, and Vanuatu hosting Fiji in a two-match international series in Port Vila. All three held onto the same position on the rankings despite being in action.

Elsewhere, Argentina reclaimed top spot on the FIFA World Rankings ahead of the start of the World Cup, replacing France. Whilst Indonesia, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, and Yemen were the joint biggest movers.

The June update for the FIFA Women’s World Rankings will be released on June 16.

As all attention turns towards FIFA World Cup 2026, including for OFC representatives New Zealand, we’ve decided to take a closer look at the results of the three men’s national teams in acton during June.

The All Whites finalised their preparations for FIFA World Cup 2026 with back-to-back warm-up defeats in Florida. They suffered their largest defeat since FIFA Confederations Cup 2017 in the first of the two, losing 4-0 to Haiti.

Darren Bazeley’s men at least rescued some credibility in their second match though, only losing 1-0 to England – Harry Kane scoring the only goal. Attention now turns towards their World Cup opener against Iran in Los Angeles.

Despite the two defeats they remain the #85 ranked nation in the world, and the top-ranked OFC men’s national side. History was also made for Chris Wood during the warm-up internationals, who became his country’s most capped player of all time against Haiti, surpassing Ivan Vicelich with 90 appearances for New Zealand.

Melanesian rivals Vanuatu and Fiji met in Port Vila for a closely fought two-match series. Vanuatu claimed the spoils in the first of the two matches, Alex Saniel scoring in their first win on home soil since OFC Men’s Nations Cup 2024.

Saniel scored again in the second match between the two nations, continuing the strong goal-scoring form that saw him win the Golden Boot in the inaugural season of the OFC Pro League. Fiji’s all-time top goalscorer Roy Krishna responded with a goal of his own though as the pair played out a 2-2 draw to conclude the series.
