The Oceania Football Confederation have partnered with New Zealand Football to deliver the first Pro Licence coaching diploma in Oceania.

The Pro Licence is the global standard for elite level coaches and a requirement to coach in many of the top leagues around the world.

Andy Boyens, Technical Director at New Zealand Football, sees delivering this course as the next logical step for coach development in New Zealand.

“We know this is something members of the football community have been looking forward to and it’s great to be in a position to deliver it to our top coaches and technical experts in NZ who have aspirations of operating at the professional or international level,” he said.

“The Pro Licence is about developing the key competencies to prepare coaches and technical experts to succeed as a leader in a professional environment.

“We want coaches from NZ and Oceania to be able to go to the top level of the game and being able to offer the Pro Licence within NZ for the first time is a significant step to support this.”

Owain Prosser, Head of Education and High Performance at OFC, said:

“We are delighted to be able to offer this course to coaches in the Oceania region. After the recent launch of the online learning platform OFC Learn, the introduction of Goalkeeper Licence courses and the recent OFC Coaching Conference, this is the next step in providing positive learning experiences for all coaches,” he said.

“In partnering with New Zealand Football on this, we aim to develop competencies that are aligned with modern day coaching at the highest level.

“As the game grows across Oceania, it is important that coaching standards improve too.”

The Pro Licence course will be delivered across three regions in New Zealand starting in 2023.
